CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – Northwest High School’s Athletic Department is pleased to share that senior softball player, Ashlie Steffen, has committed to play softball at Midway University located in Midway, KY, where she plans to major in Education.
Ashlie signed her commitment paperwork in a signing ceremony held on March 21, 2019 at Northwest High School.
Ashlie shared that she is excited to attend Midway University because she really liked the campus.
“The softball program and staff is very supportive. I’m exited to continue my softball career at the next level,” she said.
Ashlie is a four-year member of the Lady Vikings Softball team, serving predominantly at pitcher and second base.
Last year, Ashlie had 63 at bats and ended the season with a .368 batting average with no runners one. With runners in a scoring position, she had a .474 batting average. She started as pitcher for 15 or the 18 games and had an overall fielding percentage of .810.
In addition to her time with Northwest High School, Ashlie has also played with the Lady Titans travel softball program since age 13.
“Ashlie is a hard working and well deserving student-athlete who strives to improve,” Lady Vikings Softball Head Coach, Holli Blakeney, said. “She always has such a great attitude and is a perfect image of a student-athlete. She is someone who will arrive early to practice and stay late to work on her skills.”
Northwest Athletic Director, Jessica Peppard, stated, “Northwest is proud of Ashlie and her hard work and dedication over the past four years as a Lady Viking. We are sure she will continue to demonstrate this same work ethic at Midway University and contribute greatly to their program. We wish her the best of luck as she continues her softball career at the next level.”
