CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) Northwest picked up a big win against a CHS on Thursday.

The Vikings won 5-2 in the second game of their series. On Wednesday night, the Wildcats came back to beat the Vikings 6-5.

Jordan Smith pitched six and a third innings for Northwest. He struck out six batters and only allowed two runs on seven hits. Cody Kirkland came in to pick up the save. Gavin Hams picked up the loss for CHS. He struck out five batters and allowed five runs on six hits.

Clarksville had seven hits to Northwest’s six. Northwest’s Cody Kirkland had three RBI’s. JT Miller went 2-for-3 to lead CHS in hits and Vikings right-fielder made a running, leaping, catch over his shoulder that belongs on Sportscenter.

The district baseball tournament should be fun to watch this year. There are some good teams in the district tournament which starts May 3, weather permitting.
