#24 AJ Wallace takes a moment to focus as the fate of The Northwest Vikings hinged on his freethrows with less than 10 seconds left in the game.

The Northwest Vikings were heavy underdogs, having not won a district game in the regular season. The Vikings were tied with the Cougars at 52 apiece when AJ Wallus sunk a clutch free throw to give them a one-point lead. Dickson was unable to respond, and the Cinderella story continues for Northwest, as they’re one game away from a district championship.
“It was a great team effort all around,” said Northwest head coach Thomas Stanley. “They bought into our defensive gameplan and executed well. They made a run in the third quarter, and I told our guys before the fourth started; basketball is a game of runs; luckily, we made the last one.”

The Kenwood Knights gave the Patriots a run for the money, playing physical on both ends of the floor. However, every time the Knights would go on a run, Henry County seemed to have an answer. The Patriots pulled away late for a 53-44 win, sending Kenwood to the consolation game on Thursday.
“We didn’t play as hard as we should’ve,” said Kenwood head coach Chase Cronin. “It was a poor performance, but we have to put it behind us and bounce back Thursday. We’ve got a lot to figure out, and we have to do it quick.”
