CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – More than 300 local high school students volunteered to work at the Kids and Sports areas at Rivers and Spires this year, totaling over 897 hours of service time.

Two of the participating schools were selected to win the Mayor’s Volunteer Trophy based on service hours, student participation, and attitude.

The winners are:

Northwest High School: 70 students participated with an average of three service hours per student. The school’s football team brought all 70 students in three buses to the event to volunteer on Saturday, April 17.

Northeast High School: 58 students participated with an average of 5.3 service hours per student. ROTC members helped in the Kids Zone and stood guard at check points.

Other participants included: CMCSS Middle College, Montgomery Central High School, Rossview High School, Clarksville High School, and Kenwood High School. These schools will receive participation plaques.

The trophy will be presented during the next County Commission formal meeting May 11.
