CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northwest High senior forward Kendall Myree has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week after averaging a double-double in points and rebounds through three games played.

During the week of Jan. 22, the Vikings girls’ basketball team played against the Springfield Yellow Jackets, Henry County Patriots and the Dickson County Cougars.

Northwest High began last week by traveling to Springfield High, and the matchup between the two schools went down to the wire. Myree had a solid outing posting 11 points and 9 rebounds, however, the Yellow Jackets bested the Vikings to win by two points.

Following a tough loss, the Vikings looked to bounce back against Henry County during their second consecutive road game. Myree shined throughout the matchup and finished a career night with 19 points and an astounding 17 rebounds.

Even with a dominating performance by 6-foot senior, the Vikings lost to the Patriots by a score of 35-59. With the loss, Northwest turned to their home court to host their final game of the week against Dickson County.

The Vikings ended up taking their frustrations out on the Cougars and defeated them by a total of 53-33. Myree finished the contest with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

With that being said, Myree averaged 16.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game last week, according to Northwest head coach Ben Wallace.

Honorable mention

Several other players had great weeks on the football field. Here are some that merit special mention:

  • Clarksville Academy boys’ guard Trae Rideau: averaged 22.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
  • Clarksville Academy girls’ guard Malaya Woullard: averaged 20 points per game.
  • Clarksville High girls’ guard Imari Berry: averaged 20.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
  • Rossview High forward Torri James: averaged 11.5 points and 8 rebounds per game.
