CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Northwest High School’s Athletic Department has announced the appointment of Aaron Wallus as Head Girls Basketball Coach.
Wallus will replace Coach Eddie Walker, who will be relocating from the Clarksville area.
Coach Wallus joined the Viking faculty in 2015 as a Special Education Inclusion teacher. For the 2016-17 school year, Coach Wallus will be stepping into a Physical Education teaching position.
Wallus holds a Bachelor’s degree from MTSU and a Master’s degree from Belmont University.
Coach Wallus, who is a graduate of Clarksville High School, played basketball for four years and was a starter for three of those four years. His coaching experience includes serving as assistant boys’ coach at Kenwood High School for three years, as well as an assistant at Northwest for one year.
“I love [basketball] because it runs in my blood. My dad played ball in high school in North Carolina, at APSU, and professionally in the American Basketball Association. My mom played at CHS,” he said.
When asked about his new coaching position, Wallus replied, “I’ve been an assistant for four years under some really good head coaches. I’ve had some time to learn from them and form my own philosophies and ideas. I’m excited to finally get to implement those ideas with my own team!”
Northwest High School’s Athletic Director, Jessica Peppard, said, “Coach Wallus has served as a basketball coach in the Clarksville area for several years, and has a vision for excellence. We have no doubt he will continue to grow our basketball program. I am confident he will utilize the strong foundation left by our previous coaches and take our basketball program to the next level.”
