CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast High two-way player Evan Primasing is the Clarksville Now Player of the Week for his play in the batters box and on the pitchers mound the week of March 28.

His efficient play started out against Clarksville High. Primasing was not only tasked with batting cleanup for the Eagles, but was named starting pitcher against a talented Wildcats lineup. He went the distance in Northeast’s win, where he totaled 7 innings pitched, 6 strikeouts and only 2 earned runs allowed.

Primasing allowed 10 hits on the night, but he managed to minimize Clarksville’s run total. Another takeaway from his dominant pitching performance was his control. Primasing did not allow a walk throughout the start and threw 83% of his pitches for strikes.

He wouldn’t have been recognized for the win if not for his own offensive production. He came to the plate with two runners on base in the sixth inning as the team trailed the Wildcats 1-0. Primasing drove both runners in after finding a gap in the outfield for a triple. The Eagles went on to win the game 3-2.

Batting totals

Primasing and his clutch play carried over to the following two contests. The Northeast player finished out the week going 6 for 9 (.667) with three extra base hits, 5 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.

He has consistently been one of the better batters in Montgomery County. He also accounts for more than half of the Eagles’ runs batted in up to this point in the year. Primasing mentioned that one priority at the plate is to actually not think at all. He also detailed what the hot start to his senior season has meant to him.

Northeast head coach Charles Ratcliff credited Primasing for carrying the team at times, whether it’s at the plate or on the mound.

After high school Primasing plans on attending Austin Peay University where he will study computer science. He currently does not plan on playing baseball at the next level.

Northeast High has won 2 out of their last 3 games, moving their overall record to 3-8-1. The Eagles look to fight their way back to .500 as they are scheduled to take on Rossivew Monday, April 4. The two sides will begin the first of a two game series on military appreciation night.
