CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Both the Northeast and Northwest High School football programs have been placed on “standard probation” for the next two seasons, through the 2027 season, for an incident that occurred between the two squads during a game on Oct. 3, 2025.

In a letter from the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association, officials stated: “Several Northeast coaches, players and fans crossed the field, pushing and shoving the Northwest players and coaches in an attempt to reach the site of the original altercation. The video of the incident confirms that multiple players from both schools left their sidelines in response to the altercation. Several players from each team can be seen pushing and shoving before returning to their respective sidelines, while others did not reach the area of the confrontation before retreating.”

Each program was fined $500 – $250 for players leaving the sideline, and $250 for a fan leaving the bleachers. The probation will fine each program $500 for the length of the probation, so each schools will be fined $1,500 total. As opposed to regular TSSAA probation, “standard” probation does not carry any on-field punishment, so the result of the game remains the same; Northeast won 21-8. Both teams will still be eligible to make the playoffs.

Clarksville Now has reached out to coaches for both teams.
