CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The West Creek Coyotes traveled to Northeast High School for a rivalry matchup with the Eagles on Friday. Northeast dominated from start to finish, winning 38-0, and starting 2-0 for the first time since 2022.

Receiver Damion Jarett started the party for the Eagles, catching a quick touchdown pass from five yards out. Running back Herold Marshall III found the endzone on the next drive, and linebacker Jamarion Green picked off a Coyote pass and took it to the house to end the first half scoring with a 19-0 Northeast lead.

“I credit our defensive staff, they’ve done a fantastic job so far this year,” said Eagles head coach Deonte Weston. “We’re very aggressive, especially up front, and we’re taking advantage of that. We’re making plays in a lot of different areas. Our kids went out there and executed.”

Green found paydirt again, this time as a quarterback on the offensive end to start the second half. Montrell Perry returned a punt for 65 yards to the house, then a fumbled snap was fallen on in the endzone by Northeast, and the Eagles ran away with a 38-0 rivalry victory.

“It’s been rough, we’re very injured,” said West Creek head coach Micheal Booker. “We came in and saw some young guys. If you wanted to see how kids react to adversity, this is going to be a test. Props to Northeast, they played an excellent game. We just have to keep morale up and get back to work tomorrow.”

As for Northeast, they take back the rivalry against West Creek, and have already won more games than they did last season.

“It is so important for the kids to start 2-0,” said Weston. “It’s a great confidence builder for these kids and for our program. The biggest thing we’re trying to do is be player-led, and you’re seeing that on the field. They’re starting to believe.”
