CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast High School has announced the hiring of Eric Young as their next head boys’ basketball coach, following the departure of Ivard Brimley in April.
Young will now take over as the head coach for NEHS after serving as an assistant from 2018-2021 and previously serving as the head middle school boys’ basketball coach.
Young played basketball at Austin Peay for two seasons from 2003-05, appearing in 57 games, and played two seasons of professional basketball overseas in Scotland. Young was an assistant coach under several current head coaches in Clarksville, including John Stigall at Kirkwood, and Sam Young at Montgomery Central, during their respective times at Northeast High.
Young takes over a program that won seven games in the past three seasons and will aim to build them back up to their former glory.
Clarksville Now has reached out to Young.
