CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – The Northeast Eagles lost a heartbreaker to Station Camp to end their run at the Region Tournament.
Tuesday night’s final score at Gallatin High School was 43-46. The lead changed hands multiple times in the game and Northeast was never out of the game. “This is our Region,” said coach John Stigall. “We’ve won it two years in a row. If someone is going to win it from us, they’re going to have to take it.”
Alec Kegler fouled out of the game with four minutes left on the clock during a controversial play. Two Station Camp players collided going for the ball and Alec was in the vicinity. The referee called a foul on Alec, giving him five fouls.
Station Camp’s Dane Diaz led all scorers with 17 points.
Northeast Senior Shaun Robinson led his team in scoring with 15 points, and eleven of those points coming in the fourth quarter. Alec Kegler finished with 11 points.
“I’m proud of the two seniors that have been here for four years,” stated coach Stigall. “They won 80 games, two district titles, two region titles, and a state final four. They’re winners, regardless of what happened tonight.”
