CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – When Northeast High and West Creek meet on Friday night, the two teams will have already played a few district games in Class 4A District 13.

The Coyotes dropped their district opener against Clarksville High before beating Springfield a few days later. As for Northeast, the Eagles lost to Rossview in their opener.

Friday’s game will be one of six remaining district games for both teams, and a win would go a long way for both teams when seeding comes around for the district tournament. However, the game is also one that both teams look forward to on their schedule.

“Northeast always has talent, they are extremely well coached, and they are going to come and compete,” said West Creek head coach Russell Malone.

“I’ve been to a couple different places, but the rivalry between West Creek and Northeast is pretty special and unique. In my eight years here at West Creek, it’s always been the same. No matter what the year is, what the records are both teams are going to compete really hard.”

Northeast’s head coach Sam Young had similar praise for West Creek, saying, “they are playing really good ball right now. They’ve done a lot of good things. They had a big win last week against Springfield. They are heading in the right direction.

“It’s definitely going to be a battle. Should be a great atmosphere to be a part of if you are a spectator.”

The game will be at West Creek High School Friday night.

These two teams will meet again for Round 2 on Feb. 8.
