CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Station Camp Bison traveled to Exit 1 to face the Eagles at Northeast High on Monday. A defensive, physical battle saw the Bison pull away late, and the Eagles couldn’t score consistently down the stretch, despite playing well defensively. Station Camp won 55-43, and the Eagles fell to 0-3 on the season.
Early on, the Eagles were firing on all cylinders. Defensively they hounded the ball, and some early buckets from guard Terry Jones gave the Eagles a lead.
Northeast head coach Ivard Brimley said this defensive mindset has been in the making all offseason.
“We raised our expectations, not just in our play, but in our effort, attitude, and in the classroom,” said Brimley. “We want to be mentally tough and committed to each other. We’re gonna play defense first, and create opportunities through that.”
Station Camp built some momentum in the third quarter, fueled by a combined 42 points from guard Ty Thurston and 6’2” forward Seth Bailey. While the Eagles remained defensively dominant and got some clutch baskets from Tayshawn Mozee, who led the Eagles with 11 with three made 3-pointers, they couldn’t consistently find the bottom of the net.

While the Eagles are off to their second straight 0-3 start, this team is much improved.
“Passing is the crucial component to this, we have improved a lot in that, but we still need to get better,” said Brimley. “Our focus is we have a district to play in. Everything we’re doing is building up to that. Mental toughness is key to this, you have to put it behind you and move forward. If we play with that attitude, we have everything to gain.”
