A Celebration of Life service for Nona “Kaye” Vertrees, age 84, of Palmyra, TN, will be Friday, November 11, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Kaye was born on July 21, 1938, in Clarksville to Earl and Gladys Rogers who preceded her in death. She passed away on November 7, 2022, at home with her husband, James, at her side.
Kaye was a mother, teacher, and life’s partner to James “Jim”, to whom she was a perfect wife for 34 happy years of marriage. She taught school for thirty-seven years, mostly in the Clarksville Montgomery County School System. Together with Jim, Kaye built the home of her dreams and often remarked that she was fortunate to have had a full life with many adventures and successes. Kaye would also comment, ” Life could not have been better, if one could have ordered it from Sears.” Her big, beautiful eyes, bright smile, and contagious laughter will be missed by her adoring husband and friends. Kaye was one of God’s most gentle and sweetest creations and will live on in our memories with fondness.
In addition to her husband, Jim, Kaye is survived by her son, David Cooper.
