CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its 12th Annual Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Ted A. Crozier Sr. Community Commitment Award.
Melinda Shepard, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce said the honor is given each year to someone who is very involved in the chamber and the community. “It’s somebody who has exemplified the spirit of our community,” she said.

The first award was presented in 2006 and over the years has been known as the Community Commitment Award. This year the name of former Clarksville Mayor and retired U.S. Army Colonel, Ted Crozier Sr. who recently passed away, was added to the award.
“We felt like Ted Crozier Sr. was the epitome of spirit for Clarksville and Montgomery County. He was very dedicated to Clarksville-Montgomery County and did so until his passing. We felt it would be a great way to honor him and memorialize his name,” Shepard said.
Past winners include Dr. Alisa White, Charles Foust, Billy Atkins, Dr. Mac Edington, Khandra Smalley, David Smith, Charlie Koon, Jim Durrett, Jay Albertia, Dr. Jeannie Beauchamp and Clay Powers.
Nominations are also being accepted for two other annual awards which are given out by the Chamber of Commerce. They are Boots to Suits: Veteran of the Year and Young Professional of the Year.
Nominations need to be returned to the Chamber of Commerce before April 7. The award recipients will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner and Gala on May 9 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
