CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – If you are looking for a break from the heat and humidity, it may be a little while until relief comes our way.

Meteorologist Brendan Schaper with the National Weather Service is calling for hot and humid conditions to continue with temperatures in the mid-80s to low 90s through the weekend.

Heat indexes next week are forecast to climb into the upper 90s to near 100.

Schaper offered some tips on dealing with the sweltering heat.

“Of course, stay hydrated if you’re going to be out,” He said. “Plan on taking frequent breaks if you’re going to be working or doing any kind of activity outside.”

He also warned about making sure not to leave pets or children in hot cars.

Even though no severe weather is in the immediate forecast, Schaper added that the chance of thunderstorms will continue.

“We are looking at continued daily rain chances through the weekend and into the early part of next week,” Schaper said. “Some of those storms could produce a lot of heavy rainfall and localized flooding.”
