CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Miller-Motte Technical College celebrated the addition of a new Truck Driver Training program during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday, Sep. 3.
The program was created in response to the area’s growing transportation and material moving industry, and it will provide students today with the training they need to become the machine and vehicle operators of the future.
“All of us at Miller-Motte are excited to be offering the CDL program at our campus,” said Director of Student Placement Lois Jones. “I believe that this program will be an asset to the growing transportation industry by providing local training, and will generate many opportunities for employment. We were honored to have the
Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Bowers, and State Rep. Joe Pitts and so many community members turnout for our ribbon cutting to launch the program.”
The four-week program will begin in September 2013, and consists of classroom, range and behind the wheel instruction. Students will finish this comprehensive program with training that exceeds Tennessee state regulations.
Campus Director Gina Castleberry says, “We are excited to add The CDL program to our Clarksville campus. The program offers local training to individuals in Clarksville and the surrounding areas not widely available before now. Classroom and hands-on roadside training will provide our students with excellent instruction. This program is consistent with our mission to change the futures of our graduates. We are proud to provide this program in our community!”
The school has already received great response to the new program—in fact; prospective students are lining up to join the inaugural class which is almost full. Anyone seeking more information regarding the program should call Ashley Ray or Ray Green at 931-553-0071.
