CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s continued growth has spurred a discussion between community leaders about the need for a leadership development program.
Currently, the strategic planning of developing leaders in the community includes a handful of custom courses. Members of Leadership Clarksville Class of 2019 have been task with researching and recommending steps for starting a leadership developmental program in Clarksville. The group is seeking community input and opinion as the planning stages begin.
In developing the program, organizers are exploring the opportunities that leadership training may provide. Special attention is paid to the areas of professional and personal development. Community leaders value development programs and have embraced Leadership Clarksville and Youth Leadership Clarksville as opportunities for growth.
These programs are based on volunteer-driven activities and assist participants with the knowledge concerning the needs, resources, and opportunities in the city. They do not contain a developmental component for those looking to enhance their leadership skills. Exposure to senior business leaders, mentorship, and development of Emotional and Cultural Intelligence are areas in need for many new and mid-level employees.
A centralized leadership development program can assist with preparing the community for sustainable growth. A development program ensures a full talent pipeline, provides a meaningful structure for developing new leaders and creates a new way to think about leadership development in a growing community. The ability of a leadership development program to broaden perspectives and behaviors will lead to holistic leadership practices.
Feedback from community members interested in developing leadership skills is crucial. This survey will take no more than two minutes to complete and will only be used to assess the current need and interest in the community.
