CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – New details have emerged following the arrest of a man charged with his missing wife’s murder, including the victim being found in a shallow grave in East Tennessee.
On Feb. 27, at approximately 4:09 p.m., Clarksville Police conducted a welfare check for Megan Raymond at her home on Culverson Court after a concerned friend reported receiving suspicious text messages from her. According to court documents, the friend said that these strange texts follow in the wake of Megan’s “history of domestic-related verbal disputes.”

When police arrived at the residence, they made contact with Megan’s husband, 35-year-old Dennis Raymond. According to the documents, Dennis told officers that his wife “had left sometime during the night, around 1-1:30 a.m.,” and had not been seen since. He also stated that Megan had been communicating with him, as well her mother.
According to the warrant, police pinged Megan’s phone, showing the messages had originated from the IP address associated to couple’s home on Culverson Court. However, the texts were sent after Megan had allegedly left their home, even though Dennis stated that Megan had taken her phone with her when she left.
Shallow grave found
The next day, at approximately 4:37 p.m. on Feb. 28, CPD detectives received a phone call from Detective Davis Stevens with the Scott County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office. Scott is a rural county northwest of Knoxville.
Stevens told CPD he had received a tip from a man claiming to be a friend of Megan Raymond’s husband, Dennis. The tipster owns property in Sunbright, Tennessee, next to property that Dennis Raymond owns there. The tipster said Dennis confessed to murdering his wife and burying her near the edge of his property and placed a rock over her head. Sunbright is in Morgan County, next to Scott County.
When Stevens followed up on the tip, he found what appeared to be disturbed ground in the area, with a rock on top of the suspected grave.
Later that day, Dennis Raymond was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. He is expected to appear in court before a special judge on March 17, at 9 a.m. at the Montgomery County Courts Complex.
Correction: Megan was found in a shallow grave buried on the edge of Dennis Raymond property. The article has been updated.
