CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board met in special session Tuesday, July 29 and heard about plans for Shiloh Industries, Inc. beginning a new project that is expected to bring around 150 new jobs and a $20 million investment to the local community.
Shiloh Industries will take over production at the former Contech Castings plant, a 75,000-square-foot facility at 901 Alfred Thun Road that has been idle. The industrial Development Board voted Tuesday in favor of a nine year property tax agreement to aid in Shiloh’s operations at the plant.
The company, based out of Ohio produces steel and aluminum fabrication for the automotive industry, metal die castings, stampings and welded blanks with the motto “lightweighting without compromise”. There is another plant in nearby Dickson, Tennessee and the company has locations in six other states in the U.S. as well as a facility in Mexico.
Mike Evans, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Board talked about what the Shiloh Industries project means to the community. “It’s going to put a plant that had gone into an idle state back to work. It’s going to save the 18-plus jobs that are currently on hand and it’s going to generate an additional 150 jobs over the next four to five years,” Evans said.
