CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – New Austin Peay State University (APSU) Athletics Director Ryan Ivey was the guest speaker at Clarksville Rotary’s weekly meeting on October 14 at Clarksville Country Club.
The New APSU Athletics Director is from Mayfield, Kentucky and played football at the University of Memphis. He has moved across the country working in different fields within the athletics departments. He was the Athletic Director at Texas A&M before coming to Austin Peay.
“This is an opportunity for my family to come back home,” Ivey said.

Ryan Ivey wants to change the environment of athletics at APSU.
“It’s not are we going to be successful? It’s we are going to be successful,” he said.
Ivey said part of that was having three expectations for his student athletes:
1. “Take your rear-end to class.”
2. “I expect them to be engaged in the community.”
3. “Win.”
Ivey also talked about how the football team will have to lead with success for the other departments to get on board. He gave updates for a few of the women’s sports, including volleyball team and golf team. Ivey mentioned a few future plans for the department and how they will move forward in the next coming year.
