CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) -The National Weather Service in Nashville has forecast rain and light snow today, Monday, Nov. 11

Some wintry precipitation is in the forecast starting with rain Monday afternoon changing to light snow Monday night and into early Tuesday morning along with rapidly falling temperatures.

Meteorologist Sam Shamburger talked about the chance of some light snow.

“Around Clarksville it’s looking like during the evening we could see anything from a dusting to maybe a quarter-inch of snow before everything shuts off,” Shamburger said.

Forecasters said the change over to snow could come as early as 6 p.m. Monday for the area but the ground should still be too warm for snow to easily accumulate on most surfaces. The exception will be elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.

Temperatures will be cold Tuesday morning and gusty winds will put wind chills in the low teens, possibly down into single digits in some locations. The high on Tuesday will be around freezing.
