CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Next weekend, Nate “The Train” Landwehr returns to UFC action to take on the 13th ranked fighter in the featherweight division –Dan Ige. The fight will take place on June 10 at UFC 289 in Vancouver, Canada.

Landwehr has set high expectations for himself going into the biggest fight of his UFC career. He told Clarksville Now that on June 10, he plans to walk into the octagon un-ranked, but he plans to walk out a star.

“I was born to live the life I’m living. Through all the ups and downs, I persevere and perform through hard work and sacrifice. I bleed like most men sweat; I sweat like most men breathe, but I live like most men dream,” Landwehr said.

Landwehr’s UFC career

Landwehr has won his last three fights dating back to Oct. 16, 2021. In that timespan, he defeated the likes of Ludovit Klein, David Onama and Austin Lingo.

His victory over Lingo pushed his MMA career record to 17-4, and his UFC record to 4-2. Landwehr told Clarksville Now, even with all the success he’s had over his fighting career, people doubted him every step of the way.

“My first M-1 fight in Russia the naysayers doubted me,” Landwehr said. “They said my style wouldn’t work. Then, I became the champion in three fights. During my first fight in the UFC, I got knocked out. They said ‘See he doesn’t belong in the UFC.’ Now I’m on a three-fight winning streak, all bonuses.

“Everything I have I literally fought for tooth and nail. My mindset is simple, when I die, my family will put a man in the ground who lived fully and gave everything for his goal.”

‘I will change my families life forever’

Landwehr also told Clarksville Now that his decision to transition to a new gym (MMA Masters) has set himself up to change his life.

“You ask how training at MMA masters has impacted me; why I’m willing to sacrifice all I knew and move gyms; why I’m willing to leave my pregnant wife for weeks on end in preparation for a fight. … I will change my family’s life forever.

“I will break the chains of a mediocre life. My unborn son will have everything he will ever need because I’m willing to die, and I’m willing to do the things 8 billion people are not.

“There is no coming up empty-handed. I’m on the hunt, for me and mine have to eat, and it’s up to me to come home with the kill. Winning is the only way I know.”

Dan Ige

Ige is a longtime UFC veteran and made his debut in the octagon on July 25, 2017.

According to the UFC, he has an overall MMA record of 16-6 and a UFC record of 9-5. The majority of Ige’s wins came during the first half of his career when he won seven out of his eight fights to begin his time with the UFC.

However, the fighter’s form has steadily declined over the past couple of years. Ige has only won 2 out of his last 6 fights, although he recorded a second round knock out in his last fight against Damon Jackson.

Nevertheless, Landwehr holds most of the momentum heading into UFC 289 as he tries to become one of the 13th best featherweight fighter in the world.

According to the UFC stats, here’s how the fighters compare in terms of physical makeup and statistics.
