CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville native and UFC fighter Nate Landwehr competed against David Onama in a featherweight bout on Saturday. The two fighters were part of the co-main event for the UFC card in San Diego. When it was all said and done, the fighters did not leave fans disappointed.

Landwehr was labeled the underdog heading into the fight with Onama, but he pulled off the upset victory due to a dominant display in the octagon.

The Clarksville native won via a majority decision by the judges. Mike Bell ruled the fight as a draw at 28-28, which showcases just how tight the fight was. Meanwhile, Junichiro Kamijo and Derek Cleary ruled in Landwehr’s favor, 29-27.

Not only did both fighters receive a standing ovation in the aftermath, but they were recognized for the fight of the night.

With this recognition, each fighter is awarded a $50,000 bonus. Their performances only add to their UFC resumes moving forward as well. According to UFC.com, here are the stats from the fight.

Landwehr landed a higher number of strikes, significant strikes and takedowns. He was superior on the ground as well. He spent five minutes with dominant position on the ground compared to Onama’s one minute of control.
