CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Many fans expecting to see Clarksville native and Rossview High alum Nate “The Train” Landwehr make his third stroll to the UFC octagon on Saturday, Sept. 26 will have to wait a little longer.
According to MMAJunkie.com, a positive COVID-19 test result has forced Landwehr out of his featherweight bout against Shane Young at UFC 253.
Landwehr initially tested positive on Sept. 10 and has since tested negative for COVID-19 on Sept. 15. He is currently continuing self quarantine at home, according to his family.
Ludovit Klein (16-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will now step in for Landwehr and make his UFC debut against Young (13-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
The UFC 253 card also features two championship fights, including Jan Blachowicz vs. Dominick Reyes for the vacant light heavyweight title and Israel Adesanya vs. Paulo Costa for the middleweight title in the main event of the night.
The event is the first of five in a span of a month in the promotion’s return to “Fight Island”.
Landwehr (14-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was coming off his first UFC win by unanimous decision over the veteran Darren Elkins.
