CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Nate “The Train” Landwehr announced on Instagram that he signed a new UFC contract on Monday.

The featherweight fighter earned the new deal following a dominating performance against Austin Lingo. Landwehr finished off his opponent in the second round with a rear naked choke.

Landwehr’s victory over Lingo extended his winning streak to three fights. He has also defeated the likes of David Onama and Ludovit Klein during that time period. In addition, he has won four of his last five fights.

According to Landwehr, Sucker Punch Entertainment negotiated the deal on his behalf, and the length of the contract has been designated for four fights.

“I can say I’m definitely happy with my new contract,” Landwehr told Clarksville Now. “Also, I’m very honored and privileged to represent Clarksville globally, in the highest level of combat sports.”

What’s next

According to MMA Junkie of USA Today, there is speculation Landwehr could face Dan Ige as his next opponent during UFC 289 in June.

Landwehr would have two months to prepare for the 13th ranked fighter at the featherweight division. Ige currently has a career MMA record of 16-6. Meanwhile, his UFC record stands at 8-5.

Another matchup that could possibly happen is Landwehr vs. Alex Caceres. The two were scheduled to fight in San Antoinio for UFC Fight Night, but Caceres pulled out for undisclosed reasons. This led Landwehr to call out Caceres for a potential fight following his win against Lingo.
