NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Music City’s Fourth of July celebration called “Let Freedom Sing!” begins at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 4th in downtown Nashville.

The free shows will be followed by the largest fireworks display in the country choreographed to a live performance by the Nashville Symphony. The fireworks are set to begin at 9:30 p.m.

City officials said attendance is set to exceed last year’s of 280,000 attendees. The following rules and guidelines will be enforced by event personnel, and random searches will be conducted.
Permitted Items:
– Coolers with maximum measurement of 26” long x 16” wide x 16” high
– Collapsible chairs
– Blankets and ground tarps, 6’ x 8’ or less
– Handheld, Personal-Sized Umbrellas (up to 36”)
– All chairs and umbrellas must be taken down and put away by 6 p.m.
– Personal cameras
– Small bags and backpacks
Prohibited Items:
– No outside alcoholic beverages. Only alcoholic beverages purchased from a designated official event vendor are allowed on site.
– No illegal drugs
– No fireworks
– No guns, knives, other weapons or dangerous devices of any kind
– No laser pointers
– No pets (except for service animals)
– No pop-up tents
– No beach or pole-style umbrellas
– No wagons or pull-carts
– No drones or other remote controlled aerial devices
– No inserting stakes, poles or any other objects into the ground, or use of ropes, cords, tape, etc. to reserve space
– No audio recorders, video or professional cameras
– No unauthorized vending, sales, sampling or solicitation (event credentials required)
– No unauthorized personal transport devices (including bicycles, roller blades, skateboards, segways, golf carts, mopeds, etc.) (event credentials required)
– No pedi cabs or pedal taverns
– No unauthorized amplification devices permitted which disrupt event production including handheld megaphones
– No performances or demonstrations of any type unless previously authorized by event (event credentials required)
Parking will be available at the Music City Center and Nissan Stadium. Each location will charge $10. Additional parking information is available at ParkItDowntown.com.
The following street closures will begin Thursday, July 3:
Broadway between First and Fourth avenues
First Avenue from Demonbreun to Commerce streets
Beginning July 4, the following closures will take place as well:
Second Avenue from Demonbreun to Commerce streets
Molloy Street from First to Second avenues
First Avenue from Korean Veterans to Demonbreun Street
And on Saturday, Metro police plane to close Broadway from First to at least Eighth Avenue as the crowd swells. The Woodland Street Bridge will also be closed to traffic at 8 p.m. Saturday when it will become available for pedestrians.
The Siegenthaler Pedestrian Bridge will be closed to citizens at 8 p.m. Saturday and will not be available for viewing the fireworks show because it’s in the fallout zone.
After the fireworks, Metro police will deploy a traffic plan to move traffic out of downtown Nashville as efficiently as possible. The plan is as follows.
Vehicles parked on the north side of Broadway will be directed to the west on Commerce Street, Church Street, Union Street and Charlotte Avenue;
Vehicles parked on the south side of Broadway will be directed to the east or west on Korean Veterans Boulevard and to the south on 8th Avenue;
Vehicles parked on the Nissan Stadium campus will be directed east on Woodland and Shelby Streets to the interstate system;
Vehicles parked on the north side of Nissan Stadium will be directed east on Woodland Street and north on North 1st Street to the interstate system;
Vehicles parked on the south side of Nissan Stadium will be directed to take Davidson Street to South 5th Street to the interstate system;
Vehicles parked on the south side of Korean Veterans Boulevard will be directed south on 4th and 8th Avenues.
