CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Transit System (CTS) now provide Nashville State Community College students free transportation as part of the school’s Transportation Assistance Program, according to a release by NSCC.

Nashville State joins Austin Peay University in offering free use of CTS transportation. In order to use CTS systems for free, students will need a valid student ID.

“We’re happy to help Nashville State with this program,” CTS Director Paul Nelson said.  “Transportation to and from classes should not be an additional barrier that these students face when trying to receive an education.”

“We’re grateful for the partnership with the Clarksville Transit System that allowed us to expand this resource to students at the Clarksville campus,” said Lauren Bell, Nashville State Foundation’s executive director. “This transportation program is one of several resources we developed to address the most significant challenges our students struggle with while attending classes.”

CTS has a bus stop on Wylma Van Allen Pl, located just in front of Nashville State’s Clarksville campus.

Under the traffic plan presented by Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts in January, CTS would receive several upgrades, including a new main transit station and transit hubs to decrease wait times.
