NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Several flights out of Nashville to south Florida are cancelled as Hurricane Matthew approaches the eastern coast of Florida.
As of 6 a.m. Thursday there were six canceled flights from Nashville International to Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
More than 2,500 flights nationwide are cancelled because of Hurricane Matthew’s projected path to the East Coast.
The storm has strengthened over the last 24 hours and is approaching Nassau in the Bahamas with winds close to 130 miles per hours.
Matthew is expected to become a category 4 hurricane before it reaches Florida later in the day Thursday.
Miami International Airport is ceasing all operations at 11 a.m. CST Thursday.
