FORT CAMPBELL, KY. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The NASCAR XFINITY Series donated iconic race car parts to the 101st Airborne Division Association during a ceremony Tuesday at McAuliffe Hall, the 101st Division Headquarters at Fort Campbell. The donation was made in recognition of the selfless service of the men and women with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

Members of Interstate Batteries and Joe Gibbs Racing presented a Screaming Eagle embellished deck lid and hood piece from the No. 18 car driven by Daniel Suarez during the NASCAR XFINITY Salutes the Military Coca Cola Firecracker 250 in Daytona, Florida June 30.

The deck lid of the car was branded with “Old Abe” in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the 101st as they celebrate a Legacy of Heroism. A helmet signed by NASCAR’s Kyle Busch was also part of the donation and three 101st Soldiers who were at the race in June were given racing shirts and caps.

The race car pieces were presented by Chris Willis, VP Talent Group and Chief Legal Officer of Interstate Batteries, and Byron Goggin, Director of Sponsor Services with Joe Gibbs Racing. The President of the 101st Airborne Division Association, James Shamblen, accepted the race car pieces for the association.

101st Deputy Commanding General for Support, Brigadier General Kenneth Royar and Division Command Sergeant Major Todd Sims were also in attendance at the presentation.
