CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) #5582 will be hosting their 64th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, October 26.
The NAACP annual Freedom Fund Banquet celebrates groups and individuals who have supported the organization and contributed to the cause of civil rights on both the local and national level.
The theme of this year’s banquet is, “Keepers of the Dream: When We Fight … We Win!” Doors open at 6 p.m. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the CMCSS Central Services South Complex, 1312 Highway 48/13, Clarksville, TN.
The Honorable Johnnie Turner (D), Former State Representative District 85, Tennessee General Assembly, will speak at the event.
This year’s Jerry G. Jerkins Community Service Award will be awarded posthumously to Reverend George Forte of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Tickets are on sale for $65 a person or $650 for a table seating eight guests. Individuals and organizations may also choose to purchase ads in the event’s 2019 Souvenir Journal Program. The NAACP asks that guests reserve their seats quickly due to limited space. The deadline for purchasing tickets, ads and sponsorships is October 15, 2019.
