CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – There are 22 unsolved homicides in Clarksville-Montgomery County that law enforcement have classified as “cold,” and without leads or new tips from the public, 22 families continue to live without answers about what happened to their loved ones.

This week, Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers announced they would increase the cash reward amount from $1,000 to $5,000 for tips leading to an arrest or conviction for any of their unsolved cold case homicides in or prior to 2018.

The $5,000 reward is offered by Crime Stoppers to anyone who submits information that leads to an arrest in one of these cases. 1991: Gary Waggoner

On Aug. 17, 1991, around 2 a.m., Clarksville Police were on routine patrol when they heard gunfire in the area of Providence Boulevard.

Officers went to investigate and were flagged down by an individual seeking help for another person who was injured. They found 29-year-old Gary Waggoner suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Pappy’s Lounge (at one point known as Trigger’s Lounge), at 206 Church St. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

1992: P’Knutts aka Jerry Cope

On the evening of Jan. 13, 1992, Jerry Cope, a 38-year-old drag queen who went by the name P’Knutts, was working at the Brown Derby, a tavern then located at 321 Commerce St.

She was closing up the bar when an apparent robbery took place. P’Knutts was stabbed and killed.

1995: Howard Batie

On Jan. 11, 1995, 64-year-old Howard Batie was discovered by police shot in his vehicle in front of his residence at 511 York St.

An autopsy report showed Batie had three gunshot wounds to the back. A witness told police they saw the shooting, and the gunman was described as dressed in black, and was driving a light metallic blue Ford, possibly a Tempo.

1995: Aaron Walker

On Sept. 26, 1995, officers responded to Lot #7 at the Sunnydale Mobile Home Park and located 19-year-old Aaron Walker dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police were told that four individuals with ski masks entered the residence yelling, “Where’s the money? We’re not playing.” One of them shot Walker, and they all fled. A witness said they got in a blue Toyota, 1985 model, two-door sportscar that was parked about 50 yards from the residence.

1996: Azuria Johnson

On Jan. 6, 1996, 20-year-old Azuria Johnson was found dead in her residence at 824 Central Ave., Apt. B. Johnson was on the kitchen floor with her hands tied behind her back. She had been stabbed multiple times in the chest.

1996: Felicia Carson

On Jan. 12, 1996, police were called to 134 Hadley Drive where they found the body of Felicia Carson, 33, who was discovered by her two children when they returned home from school that day.

An autopsy revealed Carson had a 72 incisions and stab wounds and was bound.

The night before her death, Carson and two friends went to the Red Carpet Lounge on Tiny Town Road. One of the women said they dropped Carson back home at the end of the night.

1996: Diana Nix

On May 3, 1996, 25-year-old Diana Nix was reported missing by her father, Gerald Nix. A BOLO was issued for her 1995 black Chevrolet Cavalier, and five days later, Clarksville Police located her car.

On March 28, 1999, almost three years later, her skeletal remains were found off Peachers Mill Road near Ringgold Creek.

1996: Terry Hoskins

On Sept. 28, 1996, a citizen notified police about the discovery of human remains in the 1600 block of Paradise Hill Road.

Police were able to identify the individual as Terry Hoskins, 33, who was a bounty hunter at the time of his death.

1998: Jacqueline Sims

On March 18, 1998, police responded to the 1300 block of Avondale Drive and found 32-year-old Jacqueline Sims deceased.

According to The Leaf-Chronicle archives, a man was arrested and charged for his involvement in her death, but law enforcement are still looking for other suspects.

2001: Scott Lee Dupree

Scott Lee Dupree was last seen Dec. 31, 2001. His body was discovered on Jan. 1, 2002, near Hilltop Supermarket on Highway 149 in his white service van. The investigation revealed Dupree was shot.

Dupree, 46, was an Army veteran who worked as a self-employed electrician.

2006: Victoria Ochoa

On Aug. 15, 2005, Victoria Ochoa, 27, was reported missing by family members. According to Clarksville Now news partner WKRN, Ochoa was last seen at a gathering at her grandmother’s Wilma Rudolph Boulevard home on Aug. 14, 2005.

On Feb. 21, 2006, Ochoa’s skeletal remains were found in an abandoned location on D Street.

2006: Edwin Mathurin

On Sept. 2, 2006, the body of 21-year-old Edwin Mathurin, a solider at Fort Campbell, was discovered in the parking lot of the River’s Edge nightclub following a fight and shooting.

2007: Dorris Clinard

On July 27, 2007, 57-year-old Dorris Clinard was discovered deceased outside his residence on West Park Drive. It appeared Clinard had been stabbed to death.

According to WKRN, several witnesses reported seeing one or two suspicious men walking in the area on the morning of his death, but the tips never led to any suspects.

2010: Steven Everett Davies

On July 20, 2010, skeletal remains were found in a wooded area off Terminal Road. The remains were identified as Navy veteran Steven Everett Davies, and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.

Interviews revealed Davies kept to himself and was homeless. He had been living in the area around Terminal Road and also behind the Kmart on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

2011: Dennis Freeman

Dennis Freeman was shot during a drive-by and sustained injuries in 2007. According to The Leaf-Chronicle archives, police found Freeman collapsed on the floor in a residence at the Peachers Mill Hollow Apartments, and the man who lived at the apartment said Freeman told him he was being followed. A black jacket, cell phone and two T-shirts were recovered from the scene, however no shell casings were found.

A black Ford Taurus and silver SUV were seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed, the archives said.

Freeman died in a nursing home on Dec. 5, 2011, at 29 years old as a result of injuries from the shooting, and the medical examiner listed the manner of death as homicide.

2012: James Stacker

On April 25, 2012, Clarksville Police responded to the intersection of Locust Street and Chapel Street and found James Stacker inside a blue Chevrolet Cavalier with a gunshot wound, which left him paralyzed from the chest down.

Three years later, James Stacker died of injuries sustained in the shooting.

2015: Vincent Pardue

On March 23, 2015, police responded to 919 Carpenter St. in reference to a drive-by shooting.

According to police, a group of people were having a cook-out at a home when they came under fire. Multiple individuals were injured, and 27-year-old Vincent Pardue was left dead.

2016: James Brown

On Jan. 4, 2016, police responded to 831 Isaac Drive and found 26-year-old James Brown dead in his residence from an apparent gunshot wound.

According to initial reporting, an unknown number of assailants knocked on the front door shortly before 8 p.m. Brown went outside and could be heard having a conversation. Area residents reported hearing numerous gunshots, and Brown stumbled back inside and died from his injuries.

A black male wearing an orange shirt with short braids was seen running away and entering a silver vehicle that fled the scene.

2016: Darius Walton

On June 12, 2016, around 12:45 a.m., 20-year-old Darius Walton was shot and killed at the Hunter Hills Apartments on Jack Miller Boulevard. One other person was injured.

Walton’s father, Rufus, joined Clarksville’s Conversation in July to talk about his son’s unsolved case.

2017: Rayquan Hudson

On Nov. 20, 2017, at 4:13 p.m. police responded to a 911 call and found 28-year-old Rayquan Hudson with a gunshot wound on the porch of a home in the 200 block of Mitchell Street. He was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, where he was pronounced deceased.

2018: Tavon Wilson

On Sunday, Jan. 8, 2018, at around 10:45 a.m., police responded to a shooting on Bennett Drive.

When they arrived, they found 23-year-old Tavon Wilson dead from a gunshot wound. No one else was in the apartment at the time.
