Mr. Sidney Preston Sykes, age 96, passed away June 1, 2019, at Tennova Medical Center, Clarksville, TN. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home with Rev. Don Bailey and Tony Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery, Dover, TN. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2019, from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at Anglin Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be David Earhart, Tony Cook, Simon Sykes, Marvin Nolin, David Nolin, and Nathan Boone.
Mr. Sykes was born February 8, 1923 in Stewart County, TN and was the son of the late Rev. Dewey and Beatrice Tubbs Sykes. Mr. Sykes served in the United States Army during WWII; he worked at Ft. Donelson National Park for 25 years and was a lifelong farmer. Mr Sykes was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Dover.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Faye Love Sykes, his sister, June Whitford, brother, Vernon Sykes. Survivors include his daughter, Pam Riggins (Wayne) of Dover, TN; his son, Scotty Sykes (Susan) of Dover, TN; his grandchildren, Misty Wallace (Curtis) of Dover, TN; Brandy Gothard (Bryon) of Whispering Pines, NC; Simon Sykes of Dover, TN; four great grandchildren, and three sisters, Etta Jane Earhart of Memphis, TN; Martha Sue Cook of Union Grace, AL; Nancy Thompson of Murray, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund.
