CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Police Department wants motorcycle owners to be aware of recent theft trends, since most of these crimes occur in the summer.
Recently, three motorcycles were stolen from local apartment complexes. All three motorcycles were categorized as Sport Bikes.
The suspects are picking the bikes up and putting them in pick-up trucks, vans, trailers, or any vehicle that can hold a motorcycle. One victim said he had a cable style security lock running through the front wheel of the bike, but this type of security system does not work if the suspects can lift the bikes.
Park Smart
• Do not park in the general parking area and avoid parking the motorcycle in view from major thoroughfares.
• If available on site, rent a garage.
• Rent an apartment on the ground floor and bring the motorcycle inside.
• Rent a storage unit if there are no garages on site and drive to the motorcycle.
• If you can only rent, rent a home with a place to store your motorcycle.
One of the best ways to stop motorcycle thefts from occurring is for the citizens of Clarksville to team up with the Clarksville Police Department by reporting suspicious activity. If you see individuals walking around parking lots taking pictures of motorcycles, manipulating the motorcycles, lifting them into other vehicles, or any other suspicious activity— call 911.
