CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Shawnta Brown and her family are devastated as they prepare to bury her 15-year-old son, Demariontae Brown.

Demariontae was shot and killed on Friday, March 13, on Dresden Way in front of a man’s home. The homeowner, Jamison Mullins II, has been charged with criminal homicide.

The trauma of Shawnta Brown losing her son is especially heart-wrenching, because it’s not the first time she’s had to bury a child.

Just two years ago, she buried another teenage son who was gunned down in Nashville.

On November 3, 2018, her son, Quincy Brown, 19, was murdered in East Nashville.

According to a WKRN article, Quincy Brown was found lying on a sidewalk off Dew Street with a gunshot wound to his head.

Three men have been charged for his murder.

Quincy’s murder deeply affected Demariontae, who his mother said was deeply grieved and depressed from the death of Quincy and another brother who died on his father’s side of the family.

“This was within months apart,” Shawnta Brown said of Demariontae’s brother’s death. “I was just getting to where I was coming to terms with my other son’s death, now this.

Demariontae attended West Creek High School.

Brown said she wants people to know her son was a good person.

“He loved his nieces and nephews. He loved his family,” she said. “He was always looking out for his little sister. … My son had a heart of gold and anybody you talk to will tell you that. He was very mannerable and respectful.”

On March 13, a day the family was suppose to be celebrating life, Brown said they were again hit with overwhelming tragedy.

“He sniped (my son’s) life away on his youngest sister’s (my daughter) and Quincy’s son’s (my grandson) birthday. … What a horrible gift to give.”
