CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – For 27 years, Clarksvillians have relied on the good company and delicious food of Moss’ Southern Cooking. Set on the corner of Memorial and Clearview Drive, the restaurant provides a warm comfort feel as patrons order their favorite meat-and-three.
But owner Sheila Moss is now wanting to focus on time with her family, including her two grandchildren, and she plans to sell.
Moss’ late husband, Doyle Moss, was friends with the previous owners. Although Doyle thought it was a great idea to purchase the establishment, Sheila had her reservations. An agreement was reached where Sheila would take over the front of the house, helping with customers and the staff. Doyle took responsibility for the books, and the two began their journey.
Doyle passed away in 2007, leaving Sheila the restaurant to herself, but with the help of her two sons, Chris and Frankie Smith.
After enduring tornados, COVID-19, staff shortages and more, Sheila now looks to sell the property. She said she would like to keep the restaurant open until a deal is completed, and that she hopes the new owners keep the restaurant as-is.
Moss’ Southern Cooking is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday. It’s located at 253 Clearview Drive.
