FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – More than 700 “Task Force Destiny,” 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) soldiers will return this February from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.
Fort Campbell Public Affairs said the first two welcome home ceremonies will occur Feb. 2 at 5:30 a.m. and Feb. 4 at 4:30 p.m.
During their deployment, the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade provided aviation support to U.S., coalition and Afghan forces throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan.
Task Force Destiny exceeded 50,000 flight hours, transporting more than seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers, and conducting 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations.
Additionally, five soldiers received the Distinguished Flying Cross for their heroism and valor.
