CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville utility companies and first responders have been working around the clock trying to restore power and check on residents in the Montgomery County area after a storm ripped through the community Saturday.

The National Weather Service estimated wind speeds of up to 77mph tore across parts of Clarksville around 3:00pm Saturday, October 26.

CDE Lightband estimates around 30 poles have been broken or need replacement. Crews from other communities have come in to assist with restoration efforts. It is unclear when power will be fully restored.

An estimated 33,000 CDE customers and another 12,000 CEMC customers were without power Saturday, October 26.

As of Sunday morning, CDE has reported an estimated 22,000 were still without power.

CEMC reports 3,000 members remain without power in the area.

North Clarksville and the Woodlawn area appear hardest hit, although first responders and clean up crews continue to survey damage today.

“The American Red Cross and our teams of volunteers are out in the community helping to assess damage situations and assisting our neighbors who have been affected by the storm,” said Pamela Holz, executive director of the Tennessee River chapter of the American Red Cross. “Residents who have been displaced by the storm can call the Chapter at 931-320-1698. Calls are poring in, and we are responding as quickly as we can.”
