CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Montgomery County Veterans Coalition and AARP will host a morning of free workshops for Veterans at Austin Peay State University on Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. Veterans can choose from one of four workshops. AARP will provide breakfast and information for Veterans to protect themselves from deceptive scams targeting Veterans.
The workshop options include:
- The Veterans Inside/Outside Face Mask painting. The masks are a kind of self-portrait, with one side showing the veterans as they see themselves and /or the other showing how they are perceived by others. The assignment is not complicated, but the masks are striking. After the workshop, a photographer will schedule time to work with participants to create a portrait with the mask.
- Percussion-In this session, participants will explore the universal concept of rhythm, and consider the benefits of building camaraderie and support for each other through the Art of the Drum Circle, in a safe a supportive space for all to express themselves using a variety of percussion instruments and drums, facilitated by Matt Bridges.
- Beginner whittling class where participants will create a Christmas gnome and will leave with their own starter knife.
- Everyone’s favorite Veteran Farmer, Charley Jordan, will provide a bee keeping workshop.
