CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Commission’s January meetings will be closed to the public.

“Limiting public access to the meetings is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare in light of COVID-19. County Commissioners and key Montgomery County personnel will attend the meeting in person while practicing health and safety precautions,” said county spokesperson Michelle Newell.

Both the Commission’s formal and informal meetings will be available to the public via the Montgomery County Government’s YouTube channel.

The decision was made in accordance with Governor Bill Lee’s Executive Order, which limits public gatherings to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and allows the digital broadcasting of public meetings.

The County Commission will hold its informal meeting on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m., followed by the formal meetings on Jan. 11 at 6p.m.

Those interested in addressing the Commission over zoning cases on Jan. 4 may do so via Webex from the first-floor training room of the Montgomery County Historic Courthouse. A courthouse staff member will be available to offer assistance.
