MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tuesday, April 14, Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett signed Emergency Executive Order #6 today, extending the declaration of a State of Emergency for another seven days. The State of Emergency went into effect on March 17.
This means that the original declaration of a State of Emergency, as well as any emergency orders that followed, have been extended for an additional seven days, beginning Wednesday, April 15, and ending Wednesday, April 22. The need for further extensions will be evaluated and considered at that time.
“We are asking that residents remain patient and work with us to ‘Shelter at Home’ so we can flatten this curve sooner rather than later. We will continue to review the information from the CDC and consult with our own healthcare community regarding their expertise and the data they have collected, in making future decisions,” stated Mayor Durrett
The Declaration of the State of Emergency and Emergency Executive Order #1 went into effect on March 17. Emergency Executive Order #1 limits public access to County buildings, reduces staff on-site and encourages the use of online services.
Emergency Order #2, which went into effect on March 23 extended the Declaration of the State of Emergency as well as added a 10-hour per day Monday-Thursday work week for those employed by the Montgomery County Government.
Emergency Order #4, issued March 31, extended the declaration and directed citizens to shelter at home except when engaging in essential activities or services as described in the order.
Executive Order #6 follows Governor Bill Lee’s extension of statewide Stay at Home orders through April 30 via Executive Order #27.
