CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – In May 2024, the Montgomery County Highway Department celebrated the groundbreaking for their new department building. Almost a year later, the department presented construction updates and a projected move-in date at the Highway Commission meeting.
The new facility is located at 1213 Highway Drive near the current department building, and it can be seen from the intersection of Crossland Avenue and Pageant Lane.

During Monday’s Highway Commission meeting, the commission reviewed the construction progress of the new facility and what is next for the project. “The steel for the maintenance shop is staged just outside the fence,” Civil Engineer Alex Morris said in the meeting. “All the underground stuff is good, no significant hiccups that I’m aware of.”
Morris explained that all of the details for the admin building are being finished up. That includes interior colors of trim and signage.
The move-in date could come as early as the next few weeks. “We’d been told to move in mid-May, but I do believe it’ll happen fairly soon,” Morris said. Due to the severe storms this spring and other projects, that move-in date could still be delayed, he said.
