Montgomery County, TN (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program will hold its 8th annual Green Certification Banquet on the evening of September 26. The Banquet celebrates local organizations that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship in our community. This year’s theme is Sustainability in Education.

The Banquet will be held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A social hour, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., will include recycling games with great prizes provided by local organizations.

Speakers for the evening include Jim Sumrell, Clarksville-Montgomery County School Systems’ Chief Operations Officer, and Amy Peterson, a 6th grade teacher from West Creek Elementary School. Mr. Sumrell will discuss school energy upgrades and the school systems ever growing propane bus fleet. A propane bus will be onsite for attendees to tour. Ms. Peterson will discuss the sustainability training middle school teachers received earlier this year. The evening will conclude with the presentation of the annual Green Certification Excellence Awards.
