Clarksville, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spent time Saturday, August 10 with Nick’s Ridge residents in the Sango area talking about crime, crime prevention and a neighborhood crime watch program.
Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson and members of the Sheriff’s Office Command Staff met with the public at Sango United Methodist Church. Also at the meeting were Public Information Officer Ted Denny, Lieutenant Cliff Smith, Lieutenant Brian Prentice and Investigator Fred Smith with the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office personnel shared crime prevention tips like making sure parked vehicles are always locked, there’s proper lighting around homes to deter thieves, reporting suspicious activity to 911 and encouraging neighbors to work together to help prevent crime.
Fuson talked about the crime prevention efforts of the Sheriff’s Office. “It’s a good opportunity to get to talk to neighborhoods that have had problems or even before they have problems and let them know a little bit about how we operate. It’s also good to network with citizens and make them more comfortable about calling law enforcement when they see something suspicious in their neighborhood,” said Fuson.
The Sheriff added that he hopes to hold more public neighborhood watch meetings in the community in the future. To learn more about starting a neighborhood watch program in Montgomery County contact Crime Prevention Officer Ted Denny with the Sheriff’s Office at 931-648-0611 extension 1290.
