CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Montgomery County officials held a groundbreaking Monday for the new Emergency Medical Service (EMS) facility at 2915 Pace Road. Actual ground work for the seven acre site has been underway since early September.

Montgomery County EMS Chief, Jimmie Edwards, talked about the community surrounding EMS Station 31 saying the area has the largest occurrence of pre-hospital requests in the rural district of the county and over the past six months there have been 1,254 responses to the area. With the new facility emergency response time will be greatly improved.

Edwards added this about Montgomery County EMS. “I want to thank all of the men and women that are called to serve and that without hesitation, dedicate themselves to providing the day to day lifesaving services that stand as emergency medicines front line,” said Edwards.

County Mayor Jim Durrett said he felt that Montgomery County has one of the best EMS departments in the state. He also praised the county’s other first responder teams talking about the sheriff’s office, volunteer fire departments and emergency management agency.

When it is finished the station will have 4 bunk rooms, a day room, kitchen, and support space along with 5 bays for emergency vehicles. The site will also allow for a helicopter landing area. The EMS station is scheduled to be fully operational in June of 2017.
