CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rotary Club/Kiwanis Season Kickoff Luncheon was held Wednesday at First Baptist Church. The event celebrated the opening weeks of play for Montgomery County high school baseball and softball programs. The majority of Clarksville-area coaches attended the luncheon as they each spoke on the 2022 season.

The host of the event, Brian Rives, detailed his excitement for the return of the season kickoff. “It is great to put a spotlight on these coaches that give so much to the young men and women that play on the diamond. This event is one way to honor these coaches. They dedicate their time to managing their perspective sports, while being away from their families.”

A number of new head coaches were introduced. They spoke on the foundation they hope to build within their programs at each school. This included steps they plan to take to build a winning culture such as growing in numbers, player development and discipline.

Everyone in attendance took a couple of moments to applaud Montgomery Central baseball coach Todd Dunn, who reached 500 career wins – a milestone most coaches dream to achieve. Dunn’s name is now on the MCHS baseball field: named “Landon and Joyce Dunn Memorial Baseball Field” after the coach’s parents.
