CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central Indians opened their home slate against the Harpeth Indians this weekend. In resumed football action from Friday night, the Indians scored 19 straight points to pull away, winning 26-9 and earning their first win of the year.
Picking up midway through the second quarter, tied 7-7, Malosi Laban helped the Indians pull ahead with a touchdown run, bringing the score to 13-7. The score remained that way till halftime, before Laban found paydirt again midway through the third quarter to extend the lead. Kendrick Brown got in on the action and found another rushing touchdown, and while Harpeth got a safety on the next drive, the lead was too large to overcome, and the Indian faithful celebrated their first win of the fall.

“We had some adversity, had to fight through the weather, but I love the way our guys came together,” said Indians head coach Wyatt Page. “We had some young guys step up, and I’m very proud of them. Our defense has been solid, and they’ve caused some turnovers that have helped our offense out a lot.”

After Harpeth returned the opening kickoff on Friday, the Indians dominated on their home turf. It’s a big win, but now it’s back to work, as the Indians lost a day due to having to push the game back, but they’re ready for an in-city showdown against Northwest.
“Next week starts today,” said Page. “Northwest has a great ball club, they’ve been scoring a lot of points this year. We’re gonna enjoy the win, but the work starts now.”
