CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery Central football team is entering year two under head coach Wyatt Page. Last season, the Indians broke their two-year losing streak with a homecoming win over Whites Creek and also picked up a victory against Greenbrier. Now, in a modified Region 5 in 4A, the Indians are looking to earn the right to play postseason football in November.
“From this year to last year is night and day,” Page told Clarksville Now. “It started with the seniors last year, who set the foundation, and these guys are buying into the way we do things in this program. I can’t say enough good things about their work in the offseason. We have a lot to work on, but our culture is headed in the right direction.”
The Indians are a young squad, no doubt, but they also have in-game experience. Montgomery Central returns eight starters on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Traditionally for Central, you’d see a run-heavy offensive attack, and with Page’s background as a former offensive lineman, this year looks to be no different.
While the head coach admits that he would love more numbers in the win column this fall, that’s not what his squad is focused on right now. For them, it’s all about the grind and making sure they’re putting their best foot forward every day.
“We don’t really talk about expectations,” said Page. “We’re process-driven. If we do things the way that we know we’re supposed to, anything from stretch lines to the plays during the game, we’re going to get where we need to go. The only expectation we have is to uphold our standard at all times.”

Year one under Page was all about setting the foundation, building up a culture, and showing players the expectations of how things are done on the hill. Now, it’s about raising that standard, learning how to compete, and coming together as a group.
“The next step is learning how to compete,” said Page. “We’ve adopted the motto this offseason of ‘MC over me.’ We’re not a bunch of individuals; it’s not about individual stats, it’s about the team first, and team success comes before anything. Our guys have done a great job of living that standard.”
