CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Montgomery Central senior running back and linebacker Kanyon Conner has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week following his performance in the Indian’s 8-0 win over Whites Creek.
When MCHS played Whites Creek on Friday night, it down poured on both teams to make the field conditions muddy and slippery. However, Whites Creek did find a rhythm towards the end of the first half, but after throwing the ball to the endzone, Conner intercepted the ball for a 102-yard pick-six. This was the lone score of the game and ended up clinching the victory for Montgomery Central.
In addition to his game sealing pick-sick that lifted MCHS to their first win in two years, Conner also had 41 rushing yards and six tackles during week 6.

Throughout the 2024-25 season, Conner has compiled 214 rushing yards with two touchdowns, 50 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and a defensive touchdown.
Coaches corner
“Kanyon is a great young man who does it the right way,” Montgomery Central head coach Wyatt Page told Clarksville Now. “The best way to describe him is he’s a football player. Great teammate with an outstanding work ethic. Very proud of him.”
When asked him what the award meant to Conner, he chose to give the glory to his teammates, who have been working extremely hard to earn this first win.
“To be awarded player of the week means a lot because it shows how hard me, my teammates, and coaches have worked in every practice and in the off-season,” Conner said. “I wouldn’t be getting this honor without them. I didn’t just win player of the week, we all did. I knew I had a good game but, I don’t really worry about the stats, I just want to go out there and give me and my team the best chance we can to win. If the stats come, then that’s cool too.”
