PLEASANT VIEW, TN – The Montgomery Central boys’ team was at it again on Saturday at the Ariel Rojas Invitational at Sycamore High School, going 6 for 6 in the finals and running away with the team race. 150-pound Tamarion Johnson also came home with the Outstanding Wrestler Award for the second week in a row.

The Indians put six wrestlers into the finals, and all six won their finals matches, earning six titles to put the team far ahead of second place Wilson Central by 52.5 points at the 25-team event, outpacing the large school program 229.5-177. Wesley Sudderth, Jack Levendusky, Tamarion Johnson, Joshua Hodges, Cayson Rasch, and Zach Nord all won titles for Montgomery Central.

Johnson scored four first-period pins to win the 150-pound 32-man bracket, earning the Outstanding Wrestler award by vote of the coaches. This is the second tournament in a row that the senior has won this award, winning the same award at the Maryville Invitational the previous weekend.

At 113 pounds, Sudderth needed overtime to win it, scoring a takedown in sudden victory to earn the title with a 5-2 win. Levendusky justified his #1 seed at 126 with a pin in the quarterfinals and the semifinals, then earning a 15-0 technical fall victory in the finals over a Wilson opponent.

Hodges dominated 175, going 4-0 and earning a pin in the finals for the title. Rasch, ranked #2 in the state, also won every match by first-period pin, moving his season record to 36-1. Sophomore Zach Nord defeated a state medalist in the finals 10-4 to win his title.

The Montgomery Central boys’ team will put their undefeated 21-0 record on the line this week against Kirkwood when they meet on Tuesday night in Cunningham.
